This years "Solstice Show" will feature The Cosmic Giggle Factory

Why do I call it "The Solstice Show" you ask? Well, that's a good story. First of all, it's very close to the winter solstice. And it isn't really a Christmas show. The other reason I'll probably explain in pretty good detail on the radio tomorrow night. But what is for sure is this is the show that features Arkansas groups that I got to see live back in the early 1990's. These recordings are always very rare out of print or bootlegged live gigs. I am very proud to announce that this year we will devote the show to a band from Little Rock, AR that was really popular from late 1980's and broke up somewhere around 94 or so. Starting at 6pm on Dec. 18th we will be rocking to the crazy ass sounds of The Cosmic Giggle Factory!!!! I'm also very proud that we will be sharing this to the rest of the world on shortwave radio via WBCQ on 5110 kHz as well as our own KXUA on 88.3fm....and if that don't work we will be streaming as always on kxua.uark.edu and the splatterbox webstream from Area 51. This will be at least a 3 hour show. Hope you tune in and email us reception reports at: plasticmagic883@yahoo.com

LOST DISCS RADIO SHOW on Mystery Show this Sat. night 17th, 2011 on KXUA

Hey everybody out there in radioland!
This coming Saturday night, December 17th, starting at 10pm I am planning on playing two classic Christmas episodes from what I believe to be one of the greatest rock and roll radio programs ever, The Lost Discs Radio Show. For those who have not heard the LOST DISCS RADIO SHOW, you are in for a treat, if not a taste of what real underground shortwave radio is all about. As a veteran record collector of almost 30 years, I never paid much attention to collecting Christmas records until I heard this! These guys have been doing this show for about 10 years or so now on shortwave station WBCQ that also now runs my show, PLASTIC MAGIC. Anybody who is a collector or interested in music of the 50's-early 70's should find this top notch. I hope you will tune in this Saturday night to KXUA 88.3fm in and around the Fayetteville, AR area to hear something truly special! Look them up at www.lostdiscsradio.com

Plastic Magic podcast #115 Dec. 11th, 2011

Hey everybody out there in podcast land! Here is a relaxing episode of Plastic Magic to sooth yer nerves. This is what we listened to over KXUA 88.3fm on the night of Dec. 11th, 2011: ARMAGEDDON (1975), APRIL WINE (1972), CHICAGO (1969), POT LIQUOR (1972), CAPT. BEEFHEART AND THE MAGIC BAND (1972), DR. JOHN THE NIGHT TRIPPER (1971), CHRIS SQUIRE (1975), BRIAN AUGER AND THE TRINITY (1968), THE LESLIE WEST BAND (1976) and much more! doWnLoaD iT hERe: podcast #115

Also I would like to add this (as I also posted on the Plastic Magic Facebook page last night right after the show):
to anyone who listened to the show tonight...or will hear the podcast later....the rant I went on tonight was not in anyway directed to ANYONE in the free radio community...ie shortwave, community radio, pirate radio, hobbyist or the like. I just want to be clear. This was about something that happened last week with a "commercial" radio station who, I felt, was trying to take advantage of me and ...risk the artistic integrity of the show. Anyone wanting to air the Plastic Magic radio show can feel free to do so without running ad space on it, preferably live. Let me know you are doing it and I'll announce your call letters. If you want to carry it with commercials I need a kick back to buy new records....I think that is fair.
