Art Amiss to release ‘Natural State Nineties’ Arkansas rock music compilation

A new compilation featuring 11 tracks by Arkansas rock ‘n’ roll bands from the early 1990s is set to be released online next week.
The compilation is being released by local artist organization, Art Amiss, in association with KXUA 88.3 FM and the Plastic Magic radio show. The record was assembled from the personal collection of Plastic Magic host Phillip Eubanks.
Bands on the compilation include Cosmic Giggle Factory, Dali Automatic, Oedipus Cat Pharm, 2 Much TV, The Delta Angels, Baby Self-Hate, Grass, Shindig Shop, Blue Boy Orlis and the Stompers, Tissue Culture, and The Pranks.
The album will be released at 5 p.m. Monday, Aug. 19 at arkansas-music.bandcamp.com.
Listening is free, but a $5 donation gets you a full download of the album, along with a 17-page booklet featuring band lineups, original release dates and recording details, along with scans of original album artwork, photos and flyers.

new time slot for Plastic Magic

Beginning on sunday Jan. 29th, 2012 Plastic Magic will change air time from 6-8pm CST to 7-9pm CST on KXUA 88.3fm and every-other week on WBCQ 5110kHz shortwave.

Also for the next few weeks I will be airing a "Mystery Hour" show on KXUA in the 6-7pm CST time featuring radio programs and other features of noteworthy importance. Tune in!

New Live Show Today!

It's been a busy month, and Ive missed a bit, but there will be a live show tonight on KXUA 88.3fm and on http://www.kxua.com/ , http://www.kxua.uark.edu/  and a repeat on monday night at http://www.215radio.net/. Also we are now broadcasting with more power at KXUA with our new (used) transmitter of 600watts! Reception reports are very welcome at plasticmagic883@yahoo.com. Plastic Magic syndicated on web radio!

Yes kids, it's true. Now you can listen to Plastic Magic on web radio (actually you always could on http://www.kxua.com/ live at the scheduled time) from Sacramento, CA. I have been invited to the monday night line-up on http://www.215radio.net/ at 8pm Pacific time. So if you would like to hear a show again or hear it for the first time if you miss it or what ever dail it up on your computer there. Look em up and see what they have going on. Check em out! In other news, on the show tomorrow night I will be doing a 80's show! Covering 80's styles from new wave to punk to power pop to (gasp!) hair bands. It should be a fun time, I will have my buddies Nate and Butch (the voice of the Plastic Magic intro) for added commentary...tune in to KXUA!

Plastic Magic radio will be on hiatus a little longer

Hey friends,

Looks like I'm off the air again this week. Not my choice this time. I actually went to the studio with a freshly prepaired show, but found the U of A student union chain locked because of Christmas break! So I went home. As for next week I am going to be playing at a party with my band in my home town. So I won't be back on until Sunday January 17th. As for the "lost" Solstice Show podcast, I will try to get it posted on the night of the 17th if it's available then. The reason I haven't posted it is because our subscription to Mediafire ran out which knocked us from "pro" to "basic". The solstice show is a 4 hour podcast and I guess it wouldn't hold to what we have, which is a shame because I have had a lot of people who are now living out of town who are featured on it (it was a local band show...if you missed it) who want to hear it. This problem is apparently also contributing to other problems people may be having downloading shows from KXUA at the moment. so if you are looking for something to put on that new ipod you just got for Christmas I am posting the 3 shows I did last year for "Black History Month" in Febuary. Again this year for febuary I will be doing all shows a celebration to Black music which I believe all good music has come from (think about it, even Black Sabbath owes something to the blues). So here are some podcast I hope you will enjoy. I can't tell you exactlly what to expect on each one but I can tell you you will hear blues, jazz, and heavy soul music from the usual era (late 60's to early 70's) that I stay in: Black History Month Pt.1 , Black History Month Pt.2, Black History Month Pt.3 This Febuary I plan on devoting at least one whole show if not 2 to Parlament Funkadelic and all related to it...stay tuned!
